For the first time in an absolute age, I’ve discovered a radio station that feels like it was made just for me. Soleil Radio launched on the new Channel Islands DAB+ multiplex a few weeks back and I’ve been listening to it daily ever since. For me, every one of its ‘relaxing’ songs is an absolute sure-fire winner. I’ve found the radio station that is like a perfect pair of slippers! Hello. My name is Gary Burgess. Over the years I’ve presented or programmed radio stations across the UK, starting at the wonderful Radio Wave in Blackpool as a teaboy in 1992 – eventually making my way up the greasy pole to breakfast show presenter and programme controller – via Wire FM in Warrington, Q96 in Renfrewshire, Island FM in Guernsey, Juice FM in Liverpool where I also oversaw programming across the then UTV Radio portfolio across the north of England, BBC Radio Guernsey, and most recently Channel 103 in Jersey. I moved full time to TV in 2011, working for ITV News ever since, but radio remains m

History of Plateau Radio Television Corporation In Jos, Plateau State

PRTVC---your role model station. _____________________________ Radio broadcasting in Plateau State started in 1953 when Radio Nigeria, Lagos established a Booster Station for its operation in Jos. Radio Nigeria, Lagos was itself a relay station to the British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC], London. The aim at that time was to propagate programmes originating from the Colonial Government in Britain to its overseas Administrators and subjects in Nigeria. With the attainment of Independence in 1960, Radio Nigeria, Lagos gained autonomy and was re-christened Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation [NBC]. However, the Booster Station continued to be a booster Station of the NBC. Television in Plateau State started in 1974 on the other hand, when the state was still part of Benue-Plateau State. It was the then Military Governor of Benue-Plateau State, a Police Commissioner, Joseph Dechi Gomwalk of blessed memory who saw the need to establish a television station alongside the radio station. Taliban take over radio station after capturing Afghan city

Source: The logical Indian  Taliban seized a radio station in Kandahar and took to the airwaves since Saturday after capturing much of southern Afghanistan in a rapid offensive that has raised fears of a full takeover less than three weeks before the U.S. is set to withdraw its last troops. The Taliban released a video in which an unnamed insurgent announced the takeover of the city’s main radio station, which has been renamed the Voice of Sharia, or Islamic law. He said all employees were present and would broadcast news, political analysis and recitations of the Quran, the Islamic holy book. It appears the station will no longer play music. The Taliban have operated mobile radio stations over the years, but have not operated a station inside a major city since they ruled the country from 1996-2001. At that time, they also ran a station called Voice of Sharia out of Kandahar, the birthplace of the militant group. Music was banned. Also, the suspected  Taliban fighters killed an Afgh
